The Ford Super Duty lineup of heavy-duty trucks is an integral part of many commercial fleets, and it was recently updated for the 2023 model year, bringing more power and performance to the table. In addition to the popular F-250, F-350, and F-450 models available to individual buyers, commercial customers have access to the Super Duty Chassis Cab models when shopping for a Ford for sale near Hayward. These powerful upfit-ready options include the F-550 and F-600 in addition to chassis cab versions of the F-350 and F-450 models. Whatever you are looking to add to your fleet, the commercial vehicles team here at The Ford Store San Leandro is ready to help. We specialize in assisting fleet buyers and provide enterprise solutions engineered to keep your business on the move.

Diverse Engine Options

Since the 2023 update, the standard Super Duty pickup models offer three engine options, including two gasoline and one diesel power plant. However, the F-450 pickup is only available with the 6.7L PowerStroke turbo-diesel engine. The commercial-oriented Super Duty Chassis Cab models use de-rated versions of the 7.3L V8 and 6.7L Power Stroke designed to reduce operating costs and increase engine longevity. This diverse selection ensures there is an appropriate power plant for every Hayward business.

6.8L V8

New for 2023, the 6.8L V8 gasoline engine provides 405 hp and 445 lb-ft of torque. This is the standard engine on the F-250 and F-350, providing a well-rounded and low-cost option. Although it is new to the Super Duty lineup, it is a downsized version of the proven 7.3L V8 and uses a pushrod design rather than the overhead cam layout of the old 6.2L Boss V8.

7.3L V8

Available on the F-250 and F-350, the 7.3L V8 gasoline engine provides exceptional performance without the downsides of a diesel. This engine produces 430 hp and 485 lb-ft of torque and enables the highest payload ratings for the Super Duty models. A de-rated version of this same engine powers the Super Duty Chassis Cab models, producing 335 hp and 468 lb-ft of torque with enhanced reliability.

6.7L Power Stroke

This turbo-diesel engine is available in three different tunes, allowing you to select the right amount of power for the task at hand. The standard version available on the Super Duty pickup models generates 475 hp and 1,050 lb-ft of torque. An even more powerful version is available on these same models, producing 500 hp and 1,200 lb-ft of torque. Finally, the Super Duty Chassis Cab models offer a version of the 6.7L Power Stroke with 330 hp and 950 lb-ft of torque.

The Super Duty Pickup

Ford’s standard heavy-duty truck option is the Super Duty pickup, which includes the F-250, F-350, and F-450. These models come with either a 6.8-foot standard box or an 8.2-foot long box for general-purpose use and can be equipped with a Regular Cab, SuperCab, or Crew Cab. A wide variety of trims are available, from the basic XL and XLT to the premium LARIAT, King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited. If you need a do-it-all truck for jobs in the Hayward area, the Super Duty pickup is a great option.

After the recent redesign, even the base XL trim is well-equipped with power locks and windows, an eight-inch infotainment touchscreen, and a 5G Wi-Fi hotspot. Optional upfitter switches and a 2 kW built-in Pro Power Onboard generator further increase the flexibility of this vehicle when it comes to powering accessories and tools. Ford also includes Ford Telematics and Ford Data Services to help fleet operators. However, the interior remains rugged and easy to clean with vinyl seats, vinyl floor coverings, and a urethane steering wheel.

The Ford F-250 is your standard three-quarter-ton pickup, making it a solid addition to nearly any Hayward fleet. With a maximum payload capacity of 4,268 lbs and a maximum towing capacity of 23,000 lbs, the F-250 can accomplish most jobs, while the 26,000 lb GCWR of gasoline models keeps it under the limit for a CDL.

Available with all three engine options and your choice of a single-rear-wheel or dual-rear-wheel configuration, the one-ton F-350 is the most flexible model in the Super Duty lineup. When equipped with the 7.3L V8, it has a maximum payload capacity of 7,647 lbs. Optioning the 6.7L High-Output Power Stroke gives it a gooseneck trailering capacity of 32,900 lbs.

Designed primarily for commercial operators, the F-450 pickup is available only with the 6.7L Power Stroke diesel engine and a dual-rear-wheel configuration. While it provides a slightly lower payload capacity than the F-350, it has a maximum towing capacity of 40,000 lbs, surpassing any other model in the Super Duty lineup.

The Super Duty Chassis Cab

While pickup trucks are versatile vehicles that can accomplish a wide variety of tasks, many commercial fleets around Hayward require more specialized models. This is why Ford also offers the Super Duty Chassis Cab line. These models are designed for commercial use and are ready for upfitting into whatever configuration your business requires, from service bodies and flatbeds to dump trucks and aerial lifts. A power takeoff, upfitter switches, and the Ford Pro Upfit Integration System make even complex upfits easy.

Like the Super Duty pickup models, the Super Duty Chassis Cab options come with a variety of features intended to enhance the workday. Standard SYNC 4 on an eight-inch touchscreen and a 5G Wi-Fi hotspot make it easy for your drivers to stay connected on the go without using handheld devices while behind the wheel. Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking and Audible Lane Departure Warning are also included to improve safety and reduce the chance of accidents––an important addition for dealing with San Francisco traffic.

As the only Super Duty Chassis Cab option available with a single-rear-wheel configuration, the F-350 is the model of choice for lighter upfits. The single-rear-wheel version has a maximum payload of 5,000 lbs, while the dual-rear-wheel can accommodate up to 8,100 lbs. The maximum towing capacity is 26,500 lbs.

The F-450 makes the dual-rear-wheel configuration standard and increases the maximum payload to 9,500 lbs. It also raises the maximum towing capacity of the 7.3L gasoline engine to 22,400 lbs, nearly three tons more than the F-350 with that engine. However, the maximum towing capacity with the 6.7L Power Stroke actually drops slightly to 26,200 lbs.

With the F-550, you are moving into truly commercial-grade trucks. This powerful model offers a maximum payload of 12,770 lbs and a maximum towing capacity of 34,500 lbs. Note that the F-550 is the largest model available with a SuperCab or Crew Cab, so if you need seating for more than three passengers in the cab, this is the one to pick.

At the top of the Super Duty lineup, the F-600 approaches medium-duty performance with a maximum payload of 15,210 lbs and a maximum towing capacity of 34,900 lbs. If you have an extra-heavy upfit, this is the model to pick. However, the F-600 is only available with a Regular Cab, making it less flexible than the smaller Super Duty models.
